Alabama Databases

  • Alabama Censuses 1810-1890: This collection contains the following indexes: 1810 Census Index; 1810-1819 Tax Lists Index; 1820 Federal Census Index; 1830 Federal Census Index; 1830-1839 Early Records; 1840 Federal Census Index; 1840 Pensioners Index; 1850 Federal Census Index; 1855 State Census Index; 1860 Federal Census Index; 1860 Mortality Schedules; 1860 Slave Schedules; 1870 Federal Census Index; 1890 Pensioners Index; Alabama Early Census, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.
  • Alabama Deaths, 1908-59: This database is an index of deaths recorded by the state of Alabama from 1908 to 1959. The registration of births and deaths on the county level began in 1881; however, state-level registration of deaths in Alabama did not begin until 01 January 1908. The index includes name of the deceased, county of death, date of death, and the state certificate number (volume and page). This database will prove useful to those seeking Alabama ancestors.
  • Alabama Land Records: The patentee was the first owner of property after the initial survey. Once the patent was issued, the land became private property and was then sold with a deed. The townships, the six-mile-square land blocks which were the original divisions of land from the federal land grants, were then divided into 36 one-mile squares. The township numbering was the north-south numbering, starting from the center line. The range numbering was the east-west numbering, starting from the center line. The section is the one-mile-square portion (approximately 640 acres) of a township. That was also generally divided into 36 equal squares (each of which might be divided another 36 times).
  • Alabama Marriages, 1800-1969: This database contains marriage information from selected areas of Alabama from 1800-1969.
  • Alabama Marriages,1809-1920 (Selected Counties): Originally settled by the French around 1700, Alabama became the twenty-second state in 1819. This database is a collection of marriage records from the state between 1809 and 1920. Researchers will find the names of both bride and groom along with the marriage date. The county where the ceremony was performed is also provided. Containing about 150,000 records and the names of nearly 300,000 men and women, this collection can be a tremendous aid to those seeking ancestors from the area.
  • Alabama Marriages to 1825: This database of Alabama marriages to 1825 contains over 12,000 names. Each entry includes groom, bride, marriage date, county, and state. Every name is indexed so you can search for one name, or two names that are linked.
  • Alabama Revolutionary War Soldiers: Home to less than 1200 persons before 1800, Alabama became involved in the American Revolution when Spain declared war on Britain in 1779. This database is a collection of records of men who served from Alabama during the war. Each record provides the soldier's name, age, residence, and biographical sketch. The records were taken from a variety of sources, including newspaper obituaries, the Revolutionary Pension Roll of 1833-34, the Census of Pensioners of 1840, tombstone inscriptions, published family histories, and the manuscript Pension Book kept officially by the State Branch Bank at Mobile. It was originally compiled by the Alabama State Archives, and published in 1911. For those seeking ancestors from early Alabama, this can be a source of valuable and detailed information
